Whether at daycare, in the classroom, or at home: the innovative electric wheelchairs in the Paravan PR children's series redefine mobility for children. At the rehaKIND Congress in Dortmund (February 4 to 6, 2026), PARAVAN GmbH will present its PR 25, PR 35, and PR 35 S children's wheelchairs – colorful, agile, and full of possibilities.
Children need more than just scaled-down technology. They need solutions that understand their world – colorful, flexible, suitable for everyday use, and medically sound. With the PR children's series, PARAVAN offers a range of models that are specially tailored to the needs of young users. The aim is to enable children with limited mobility to enjoy the greatest possible independence, freedom of movement, and participation – right from the start and on an equal footing.
"Even in a wheelchair, a child should be able to live their childhood freely," emphasizes Stefan Ludwig, Head of Wheelchair Systems at Paravan GmbH. "Our wheelchairs are not scaled-down adult models, but are completely tailored to the world of children – functional, playful, and with great attention to detail."
More than just an aid: a companion for everyday life
The PR 35 and PR 35 S children's wheelchairs are the result of intensive development work with social pediatric centers, doctors, and families. They combine compact dimensions with multifunctional solutions such as standing, reclining, tilting, and lifting functions – for greater participation and independence in everyday life. Thanks to the seat concept that grows with the child (K110/K120), the models can be individually adjusted and accompany children for many years. The electric standing function in the PR 35 S not only promotes independence, but also specifically supports therapeutic goals – from cardiovascular training to muscle stretching.
The PR 25 takes a different approach: with its seat unit that can be lowered particularly low and moved forward, it makes it much easier to get in and out independently – without climbing or laborious transfers. This opens up new possibilities, especially in everyday social situations: for example, children can move around on the floor without barriers in kindergarten, play with others, and actively participate in group activities—not just being there, but right in the middle of things.
A wheelchair as individual as the child itself
Whether fairy purple, dinosaur green, or smurf blue—the children have the final say in the design. "It's important that the child can say, 'This is my wheelchair,'" emphasizes Reha-Kind consultant Matthias Enneper. Together with his colleague Simon Derrer, he is available for personal and professional exchange at the rehaKIND congress in Dortmund. For Simon Derrer, being there in person is a key concern: "Getting involved instead of just observing," is how he sums it up. The congress offers the opportunity to understand the needs of children with disabilities from a multi-professional perspective – together with doctors, therapists, rehabilitation specialists, and parents. "Our PR 25, PR 35, and PR 35 S children's wheelchairs are designed to make participation a tangible experience. That's exactly what we want to show in Dortmund – in direct exchange, with real applications and in close proximity."
An example from last December shows what this means in practice: Shortly before Christmas, a PR 35 with an extra-narrow K110 seat was delivered to an 11-year-old girl – 77 centimeters tall, small in stature, who had previously been using an active wheelchair. The new electric wheelchair now opens up new possibilities for her: more independence in everyday school life, flexibility in the classroom, and interaction at eye level. A custom-made product in the truest sense – perfectly fitting, functional, with therapeutic added value.
