Inclusion meets electromobility:

PARAVAN supplies barrier-free e-shuttles to Stuttgart Airport

Stuttgart/Aichelau - Stuttgart Airport is setting new standards in the field of sustainable and barrier-free mobility: three electrically powered Mercedes eSprinters have now been specially converted and delivered by PARAVAN GmbH for passenger transport on the apron. The bright yellow vehicles are not only an unmistakable signal for climate protection - they also stand for active integration in air travel.

"We have been equipping the shuttle buses at Stuttgart Airport with our tried-and-tested PARAVAN conversions for many years," says Joachim Glück, Team Leader Vehicle Sales at PARAVAN. "In this way, we ensure that passenger transportation on the apron is not only safe and reliable, but also barrier-free. For us, the conversion to electric vehicles is an important step towards climate-friendly mobility - and underlines our commitment as a specialist for individual mobility solutions in Baden-Württemberg".

Accessibility meets high-tech in the eSprinter

The three new vehicles are based on the all-electric Mercedes eSprinter and are equipped with extensive accessibility features. A linear lift at the rear allows even heavy electric wheelchairs to be loaded safely and easily. For people with limited mobility, a fold-out boarding aid has been installed on the passenger side, allowing low threshold access to the vehicle.

Inside, a flexible seating system provides maximum variability: as needed, up to seven comfortable seats with three-point belts and fold-down headrests can be folded against the side wall to make room for wheelchairs. An integrated wheelchair safety system also ensures safe transportation during the trip. In addition, the front of the vehicle is equipped with a holder for hand luggage or medical equipment to ensure smooth, everyday transportation.

The vehicles' striking yellow paint scheme was developed in close cooperation with Stuttgart Airport and ensures good visibility and recognition on the apron.

Sustainable Mobility with Social Responsibility

The new vehicles are part of Stuttgart Airport's Fairport strategy to reduce local emissions and improve accessibility for all passengers. Mobility impaired people, wheelchair users and families with children should be transported to the aircraft as comfortably and safely as all other passengers.

"We want to provide a smooth and pleasant boarding experience for our passengers with reduced mobility. PARAVAN's service helps us to live up to our claim of being a fair airport and an inclusive airport for everyone," says Kirsten Würzburg, Director PRM - Special Handling, SAG Stuttgart Airport Ground Handling GmbH. "In line with our climate strategy, only battery-powered Sprinters were an option for us. From 2030, we want to eliminate emissions from apron traffic".

The handover of the three vehicles marks an important milestone in the long-standing cooperation between PARAVAN GmbH and Stuttgart Airport. Together, they are sending a strong signal for future-oriented mobility - barrier-free, electric and responsible.
