Mobile freedom with style and a joystick – a moment that moves you

Benjamin hits the road in his custom-built Peugeot Traveller

After just two weeks of intensive training at the PARAVAN driving school, Benjamin obtained his driver's license. Today, he is once again independently mobile with his individually adapted PARAVAN Peugeot Traveller – equipped with the Space Drive driving and steering system, two joysticks, a PR 50 electric wheelchair, and plenty of self-determination.

It was a very special moment for Benjamin: with his own car keys in his hand, a new chapter begins for him – mobile, self-determined, and technically at the highest level. Just around a year and a half after completing his training at the PARAVAN driving school, he now drives a Peugeot Traveller tailored to his needs with the Space Drive digital driving and steering system. The technical consultant from the car hi-fi sector controls his vehicle confidently using a joystick – and impressively demonstrates what modern mobility for people with disabilities looks like today.

The fastest student at the PARAVAN driving school

Benjamin set new standards even during his driver training: after intensive preparation at home, he completed his driving lessons in record time. After just two weeks of intensive training at the PARAVAN driving school in Aichelau, he had his driver's license in his hands. "Benjamin was one of our fastest students," recalls the driving school team. He had previously completed the theoretical training at home.

The PARAVAN driving school is specially designed for people with physical disabilities. With specialized driving instructors, individually adapted training vehicles—which can cover up to 95 percent of symptoms—and comprehensive technical advice, it offers a mobility concept that is unique in Germany. Driving aptitude, adaptation drives, and complete mobility solutions are all available from a single source – directly at the Aichelau Mobility Park or at the Heidelberg branch.

Technology that makes freedom possible

Benjamin's new Peugeot Traveller is equipped with the Space Drive digital driving and steering system – a drive-by-wire system that controls the primary driving functions entirely electronically. He operates the accelerator and brake with the left joystick and the steering with the right. He controls the secondary functions – such as indicators, lights, and sun visors – via Paravan Touch or by voice command using the specially developed voice control system. With his new Paravan PR 50 electric wheelchair, Benjamin drives directly into the docking station via the cassette lift – safely and without having to transfer, he reaches his final driving position. The entire mobility solution – vehicle and wheelchair – has been tailored precisely to his individual requirements.

Mobility means participation and is a new attitude towards life

"I've always been into cars," says Benjamin. "Now I can finally drive again – to work, to the shops, or just to chauffeur my mother around." After only three practice drives, he was familiar with his new vehicle. For him, mobility means not only freedom and flexibility, but also a great deal of quality of life – and above all, being a self-determined part of everyday life again.

A quote from the movie Manta Manta 2 sums it up for him: "Cars make leisure time."
For Benjamin, that means spending time together, taking spontaneous trips – and above all, finally going on family vacations again. After eight years, his family can travel together again for the first time – that's already been planned. His mother was of course there when the vehicle was handed over. "I didn't want to miss it," she says. "I've been driving my boy around for 22 years – now he's independent."

"I'm really happy with the car," Benjamin reports a few weeks after the handover. He has already driven over 2,000 kilometers since then – to work, to appointments, to friends. A real bonus for those around him: "No more stress about having to pick up Benni." His next personal project is already in the works: converting his hi-fi system. Together with a colleague from the car hi-fi sector, he is planning the optimal combination and placement. For Benjamin, his new vehicle is more than just a car:
it is the key to everyday life, autonomy, and quality of life with sound and style.
