From September 22 to 24, 2025, the renowned Handicap Seminar of the Federal Association of Driving Instructor Associations (BVF) will be hosted for the first time at PARAVAN GmbH's Next Mobility Campus in Mobilitätspark Aichelau, in cooperation with the Verkehrs-Institut group of companies and PARAVAN GmbH. Registration is now open via the Verkehrs-Institut Bielefeld.
This exclusive seminar is designed for driving instructors, examiners, administrative authorities, and experts. It is accredited under Section 53(1) of the German Driving License Act (FahrlG). Through lectures, workshops, and driving experience sessions, participants will learn innovative approaches and technical solutions for training people with disabilities in a practical, innovative, and emotional way. The practice-oriented training program focuses on training people with physical disabilities and provides exciting insights into the latest mobility solutions and real-life inclusion.
Individualized training for a wide range of clinical cases.
For over 20 years, PARAVAN Driving School has been training people with physical disabilities and helping them achieve independent mobility. Our focus is on digital driving and steering systems, such as Space Drive, as well as individualized, empathetic, and practical training. Training focuses on specific questions from everyday practice: For example, as a driving instructor, how should I handle very different medical conditions? What technical solutions are available today? How can I safely accompany learner drivers with complex disabilities on their journey to obtaining a driver's license?
The Next Mobility Campus provides ideal conditions for disability training.
The premiere in southern Germany is an important step for both partners. "We are thrilled that the Next Mobility Campus allows us to provide a state-of-the-art setting for such specialized events," says Ralf Buhmann, head of the PARAVAN driving school in Aichelau. "In addition to modern training rooms, we have our own practice area and our entire specialized vehicle fleet on site."
The experienced driving instructors at the PARAVAN driving school are familiar with the challenges of training people with physical disabilities. "Many driving instructors underestimate how individualized and challenging this training can be," says Buhmann. "This makes it all the more important to take a close look at the various options — and this seminar offers the ideal conditions for doing just that."
Carsten Seidler, head of the PARAVAN driving school in Heidelberg, also emphasizes the importance of the format. "The exchange with other driving instructors is particularly important. The handicap seminar offers an excellent platform for learning from each other and gaining new ideas for your own training."
The Bielefeld Traffic Institute welcomes the partnership. "We are very pleased that we can now also offer the disability seminar in southern Germany with such a strong and experienced partner as PARAVAN. The PARAVAN Mobility Park in Aichelau offers ideal conditions for this," said Oliver Urban of the Bielefeld Traffic Institute.
The program includes practical training and driving experience
The three-day program combines theory and practice to provide an impressive learning experience. On the first day, the agenda includes topics such as cost allocation methods, funding opportunities, and the medical requirements for driving aptitude. Kevin and Luca Arnold, the next generation of entrepreneurs in the Arnold family, will give an exclusive factory tour, providing a special glimpse behind the scenes of the mobility manufacturer.
On the second day, participants will test various conversion options on the vehicle course, including Space Drive systems, hand-held devices, and joystick controls. Kevin and Luca Arnold will also present the latest technical solutions and barrier-free vehicle conversions live. The workshop "Mobility from the Perspective of Those Affected" features experienced drivers who will share personal insights into their journey to mobility.
The third day will focus on optimizing driving school vehicle adaptation (Ralf Buhmann), assessing driving aptitude (Christian Fischer, TÜV), and insurance and liability in disability training (Uwe Gerhards). Additionally, informative keynote sessions will expand upon the seminar's content and provide inspiration for future driving instructor practice.
Networking and active inclusion.
In addition to the seminar program, the event offers opportunities for personal interaction and networking at the regional buffet, barbecue, and live music. Additionally, an exhibition on disability mobility invites visitors to learn more and try things out. Mobility is a fundamental right, and inclusion is a task that concerns us all.
