Cahit has been on the move with Paravan for over 20 years. An example of continuity and trust that many customers associate with the company, because individual solutions evolve alongside their needs. For the 56-year-old, it all began with a converted Chrysler Voyager. What has changed since then are the vehicles—but not how he gets around: the interplay between vehicle and wheelchair that has accompanied him to this day and is now continuing with a new vehicle.
With his new Mercedes Sprinter, the 56-year-old is switching vehicle types for the first time in 22 years. Saying goodbye to his previous vehicle isn’t easy for him: “I’ll miss my underfloor ramp; that was much easier and faster.” But the circumstances have changed: the previous vehicle model is no longer being manufactured—so that solution is no longer an option. In the future, he will enter his new Sprinter via a Paravan cassette lift. Above all, the new vehicle offers him one thing: more space and new possibilities.
More space for new possibilities
The spacious interior of the Mercedes Sprinter—with plenty of headroom and flexible configuration options—creates space for individual customizations and new usage scenarios. From relaxing to spending the night in the vehicle, entirely new options are opening up. “I travel a lot. It’s often difficult to find a wheelchair-accessible hotel. Now I have the flexibility to sleep in the vehicle or take a break.” Further customization with a sleeping area and a small kitchen is already planned.
The barrier-free access and the wide range of customization options make the Sprinter a versatile solution for different life situations—whether as a driver or a passenger.
Cahit’s mobility solution is more than just a vehicle. For him, it is the key to a self-determined life. Following a workplace accident, he relies on a wheelchair. For over 20 years, he has been operating his vehicles with custom-adapted driving and steering aids. He operates both the smooth-action steering and the throttle-brake lever using a corresponding input aid—a so-called trident, which provides additional grip for those with limited finger function. The throttle and brake are controlled digitally via the Space Drive System. He conveniently operates secondary functions such as turn signals, lights, and the sun visor via the Paravan Touch System in combination with voice control.
Everything from a single source – proven in everyday life
Another indispensable part of his daily life is the Paravan PR 50 electric wheelchair. For Cahit, it was crucial that the vehicle and wheelchair were optimally coordinated—and came from a single source. He has been using the PR 50 ever since this option became available. “Because it’s also designed to serve as a driver’s seat,” he says. The electric wheelchair is approved as a full-fledged car driver’s seat and has been crash-tested. It integrates seamlessly into the vehicle via the accompanying floor plate and docking station.
At the same time, the wheelchair is far more than just part of the vehicle solution for him. Even without the car, Cahit remains mobile with it—whether in the city or on outings into nature. The PR 50 is thus a central component of his self-determined mobility in everyday life.
He particularly appreciates the comfort and flexibility: “It’s very convenient and comfortable.” Above all, the electric tilt and lift functions make many everyday situations easier for him. “This gives me flexibility when the table is too high or too low. Or if I can’t reach something, I just raise myself up. And when I’m tired, I can also lean back or lie down.” With the new vehicle, Cahit has also received a new, custom-fitted wheelchair—tailored to his current needs and the new vehicle concept.
Mobility as Freedom in Action
For Cahit, mobility means one thing above all else: freedom. The ability to get around independently, take care of himself, and actively participate in life. “I can get in and drive off on my own. And I can help others, too.” His story illustrates what Paravan stands for: personalized mobility solutions that adapt to changing life situations over the years—and offer everything from a single source.
