The car sharing provider stadtmobil now has barrier-free vehicles in its fleet. The representatives of the leading car sharing provider in the Rhine-Neckar region have taken delivery of three brand new Peugeot Rifter GT (L2) vehicles at the PARAVAN branch in Heidelberg. The vehicles are all equipped with rear access. Two vehicles can now be booked in Mannheim and one in Heidelberg. As usual, stadtmobil customers can reserve the barrier-free vehicle using the app. "We want to create a service that is barrier-free," says Volker Durchholz, responsible for the procurement and use of the vehicles at stadtmobil, which was the first car-sharing company to be certified for the common good in 2019 and was recertified at the end of last year.
"Requests for barrier-free services have increased in the past," reports the vehicle procurer, whether from private individuals or commercial users such as care services, municipal facilities or specialist associations for people with disabilities. "When selecting locations, we look at which of our stations are best suited for this type of vehicle," explains Volker Durchholz. Customers can find the relevant operating instructions for professional wheelchair loading in the vehicle and on the homepage of stadtmobil.
Before handing over the wheelchair, those responsible were first instructed on how to secure the wheelchair correctly in the Peugeot Rifter: "Open the trunk lid, press down the lever for the ramp and fold it down, prepare the vehicle (e.g. remove the belts from the holder and activate the switch for the electric belts), fasten the belts to the wheelchair and push the wheelchair into the vehicle, fasten and check the rear belts, fasten the belt system correctly and lock the vehicle. "Always check. Whether the flap is correctly engaged," says Production Manager Rainer Brunner. A Video describes the work processes in detail. It is important that customers familiarize themselves with the matter in advance. "And if there are any questions, customers are also welcome to contact us," says Heidelberg mobility consultant Reinhard Runge.
Barrier-free vehicle solutions with rear access have been used by a wide variety of institutions for many years, including a car hire company. But this mobility solution is also in demand among families with children or older people in wheelchairs. PARAVAN GmbH offers this ride-sharing solution at an attractive promotional price, which includes a conversion for the disabled or wheelchair users with rear tub, safety system and manual tailgate. A quick way to achieve a functional mobility solution. The flexible interior concept is designed for a maximum of five people and one wheelchair (active and electric wheelchairs). Various securing systems are available for securing the wheelchair; from the foldable and individually adjustable headrest and backrest (optional) to the flexible three-point belt and power knot systems. A wheelchair retraction aid can also be ordered on request. Another advantage is the convenient entrance: generous entrance dimensions and a low drive-on angle at the rear ramp facilitate entry.
